From its charming and angst-ridden first season to the darker, apocalyptic final one, Buffy the Vampire Slayer succeeds on many levels, and in a fresher and more authentic way than the shows that came before or after it. How lucky, then, that with the release of its boxed set of seasons 1-7, you can have the estimable pleasure of watching a near-decade of Buffy. Most episodes feel as harrowing and as richly drawn as they did at first viewing and they offer an escape from the viewer’s workaday world and entry into one in which the heroine (ideally one with leather pants) overcomes demons far more troubling than one’s own.

Such a simple idea–yet so fiendishly complex in the execution. 24, as surely everyone knows by now, is a thriller that takes places over 24 hours, midnight to midnight, in 24 one-hour episodes. Everything takes place in real time, which means no flashbacks, no flash-forwards, no handy time-dissolves. Every strand of the plot has to be dovetailed and interlocked so things happen just when they should, in the right amount of time. Not that easy. Like The Sopranos, 24 is one of those series that future TV thrillers will be measured against.

The Grey’s Anatomy Vol. 1 - 3 CD soundtracks feature an eclectic mix of indie pop and rock artists whose music is heard during the wildly popular ABC drama about surgical interns in Seattle. The albums’ tracks, many of which can be heard during key emotional scenes in various episodes, were chosen by the show’s creator and executive producer, Shonda Rhimes, and executive producer Betsy Beers from a large pool of artists introduced to them by music supervisor Alex Patsavas.

A while back, we had a post about the Logitech Harmony 550, which is quite a cool piece of remote control fun, but take a look at the Logitech Harmony 1000. First of all, it has a 3.5″ color touch screen, by far the biggest I’ve ever seen on something like this. Is that you PDA? No, it’s just my intelligent, touch screen universal remote. Well excuse me. You can control multiple devices (at once), control your DVD, HDTV screen ratio, CD player, etc, etc. All in such a cool device, that should go well in any living room, what a great centerpiece eh?

I started trading stocks a lot more recently, and this widescreen 20 inch LCD by Samsung would really come in handy while keeping an eye on those charts. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1680×1050 resolution and a fast 2ms response time. But in the end, I really digg the sleek black frame and rounded corners. At this great price, I may even get one just to watch DVDs at my desk

Still not sure whether to mount that new plasma or LCD TV to the wall or put it on a stand? Check out this neat solution… its similar to other media centers designed for plasma TVs, but this one is made mostly of glass and has a very sleek, modern look. It can hold TVs from 32 to 50 inches wide and weighing up to 100lbs, plus there are lots of shelves for your DVD player, receiver, etc.

Plasma TV’s have been getting cheaper and cheaper… so much so that I’ve been thinking about getting one for my bedroom. This 42″ Plasma HDTV from Philips is getting very close to my budget of about $1000, and it looks great too. It features Pixel Plus technology for better picture quality and even has a cool USB feature to help you share music and photos. If you haven’t experienced HD yet, definitely check out this affordable option… once you try it, you’ll never go back
