Runner’s World
There’s a fun Calvin & Hobbes strip about the inner hobbyist in all of us has a niche magazine to hold on to, for Calvin it’s about chewing gum. See this example
My own obsession is Runner’s World, a magazine that can month after month churn out essentially the same story about jogging, racing, dieting and running gear. It’s a fine distinction from a magazine to the next but it really helps to stay healthy, fit and motivated so I totally adore it
I am half joking on the above but I do have some favorite features:
- rave run: a gorgeous photo with a runner and an awesome place to run
- running map: each month a beautifully drawn map in a different city with 3 running routes
- diet on the run: a chef who usually runs talks about his favorite thing to eat before or after a run, includes a recipe
- much more!
Magazines are cheap, they are cool to look forward to (you know, like the opposite of spam) and best of all subscriptions make them even cheaper!
