I have a nice little desk set up at home for my laptop and I always plug my speakers in. This is fine if I am sitting at the desk, but what if I want to move a little to the right, or to the bed, or to the balcony? These aren’t huge spaces, but just enough for the cord to bug me, or be too short. A perfect solution is to buy a pair of wireless speakers. You can just plug in the receiver and put the speakers wherever you want, move around, dance with your laptop in hand, etc. I like this model from Acoustic Research because it has a nice discount at buy.com and also because it is reliable with great sound quality. On the downside, you do have to plug in each component (or run the speakers off batteries) and the blue lights on the speakers can become a bit annoying in the dark.
