Dave Chappelle

chappelle.jpgChappelle is known wildly for his too short run with Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show. I’ve attended a couple of his stand up club shows and they are so hilarious.

There are a couple of dvds out there that may fail to capture his awesomeness (a bit older stuff). Killin’ Em Softly is the better one of the two. Until you catch him live, you should check this out.

Grindhouse Posters

planetterror.jpgdeathproof.jpg
Reviews for latest movie(s) by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino are generally good. I’m rather split on it, decent, just didn’t blow me away (respectively the directors recently worked on Sin City and Kill Bill). I do think the vintage style posters are major kick ass, especially the one with Rose McGowan (Fully Loaded)

Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl

calamity.jpgI know, how cool are books? ‘Calamity Physics by first time author Marisha Pessl is actually the best book I’ve read in the last couple of years. It’s about a young girl finishing high school trying to solve the murder of her favorite teacher. You got cliques, a precocious young girl and chock full of references that will keep you interested for days.

The book came out in 2006 with much fanfare (best seller status), it was hailed as one of the top 10 books by the NYT last year.

At over 500 pages, you might be tempted to check out the audiobook, to be released on May 10.

Vans AV Era Black Neckface

I have been crazy for skating recently, I should treasure it until I fall (I mean until I fall really hard and then I’ll want to quit). Vans make the archetypal skate shoes.

Guitar Hero II Bundle

Guitar Hero II BundleThis game isn’t all that new, but I played it on the PS2 recently and think its tons of fun. If you’re a n00b like me.. here’s a quick summary of how to play. Basically, notes are shown on the screen and you have to strum the guitar controller while pressing the right note button. The best part is that it comes with over 55 real rock tracks that get harder and harder to complete. A definite must have for music fans or those of you going through DDR withdrawal.

The bundle is on sale at Buy.com for $73.99 (originally $79.99) Plus, you can save another $10 if you use Google Checkout.

Samsung 206BW 20″ WideScreen LCD

Samsung 206BW 20I started trading stocks a lot more recently, and this widescreen 20 inch LCD by Samsung would really come in handy while keeping an eye on those charts. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1680×1050 resolution and a fast 2ms response time. But in the end, I really digg the sleek black frame and rounded corners. At this great price, I may even get one just to watch DVDs at my desk ;-)

On sale at Buy.com - $233.99 after rebate and using Google Checkout (originally $489)

Bobby (Widescreen Edtion)

bobby.jpgNot everyone liked Emilio Estevez’ heavy handed faux re-creation of the day leading up to Robert Kennedy’s assassination in 1968. I thought it was actually a pretty decent drama and overall one of the better movies of 2006.

Sure a ton of things don’t make sense (why is Helen Hunt with super old though super cool Josiah Bartlet/Charlie Sheen?) but Frodo (Elijah Wood) always makes me cry. The movie also stars Anthony Hopkins, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone and Lindsay Lohan.

A critic made a joke about how Weinstein spread some mojo to get the Golden Globe nomination, I say good for Bobby!

Bobby comes out next week on April 10, 2007. You can pre-order your copy now.
