Fresh Lobster Dinner from Legal Sea Foods
Mmm, there’s nothing like a fresh lobster dinner. Sure, I only indulge in this once a year or so, but lobsters are definitely one of my favorite foods. Depending on where you live, they may be easy or hard to come by… but imagine getting top quality LIVE lobsters shipped to you along with all the fixings (New England clam chowder, crab cakes, Boston cream pie, cooking instructions and claww-crackers) no matter where you are. It does seem kind of extravagant, but if you’ve ever been to Legal Sea Foods, then you know this meal is made from the finest ingredients. In fact, the clam chowder is made just minutes before it is packed and shipped, still piping hot! No frozen stuff here. Makes a great romantic dinner for two and its also great for larger dinner parties.
Here’s how to get 10% off … with a little trick I found by mistake. First, I went to Legal Sea Foods’ web site, added the dinner to my shopping cart, and proceeded to checkout (I already have an account, so if you don’t have one, create one first). Then before actually finalizing the purchase, I closed my browser to think it over some more. The next day, I received an e-mail reminder from them saying that I still had this item in my shopping cart… and they included a 10% Off Coupon Code as an added incentive to finish the order! As far as cooking is concerned, steaming is definitely the way to go for lobsters, but since the lobsters are still alive… it can be pretty hard on them to say the least. If you wish to minimize any pain the lobster may feel, it is a good idea to kill them right before steaming. Some may say this will destroy the taste/freshness and you will lose a lot of the “tamale” that tastes oh, so good, but others say it won’t alter the taste a bit. Whatever stance you end up taking, here are some cool tips on how to do it properly. But be warned, the information in that link is definitely not something for the squeamish, as it involves passing a knife quickly through the head. Alternatively, you could try boiling them instead. Just stick the lobsters in head first, which should also provide a fast, if not completely painless finish.
