How-To: Wall Mount Your Dell LCD Monitor Without Any Additional Parts
Here is how I wall-mounted my older Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP LCD screen without spending a dime and without using any special VESA wall mounting kits. All you need is a wrench, a screwdriver, a long 3″ wood screw, and these simple instructions. Check it out and save yourself a few bucks. This mod should also work on many other Dell LCD monitors that use the same or similar stand.
They don’t sell the 2001fp any more, but you can save over $70 on the current 2007FP 20.1 inch monitor from Dell. ($415.65 - originally $489) Not sure if this mod will work on the new screens, so let us know if you try it!
Step 1: Here is a side-view picture of the regular stand mount that comes with this screen. We are going to be removing the piece outlined in red and using that piece as our wall mounting bracket. It is perfect, since the screen is already designed to clip in and out of this piece.
Step 2: To remove the bracket, all we need to do is remove this center pin, which is also outlined in red.
Step 3: This is done by unscrewing the nut that is behind the bracket using a wrench. (Note: I forgot to take a picture of this with the bracket still on, so in this picture the bracket is already removed, but you should get the idea.)
Step 4: With the center pin removed, you can remove the bracket and find a good place on the wall. Ideally, you want to screw this bracket into a stud using your long 3″ screw, right through the middle as pictured here (white screw in the middle). Alternatively, you can use one of those metal or plastic wall anchor screws if there is no stud behind your screen’s location.
Step 5: Once the bracket is securely fastened to the wall, simply plug in your cables and clip the screen back on. The screen will now be securely in place. If you want to be fancy, you can try to hide the wires or even fish them through a hole in the wall, but thats up to you.

Nice job… im going to try this tomorrow… i just dont understand why you have to take that bolt off… like you only mounted the one metal plate and the small black plastic part

The bolt actually goes through the black piece and metal piece that you mentioned, but I forgot to take a picture of that. So, the picture you see is a bit misleading. Hope that answered your question
